Have you ever been told to stop dreaming? Has anyone asked you to come back to reality?
What about “Pick SOMETHING will you?” and “You NEVER finish anything.”
You’re probably a creative explorer.
Do you feel like settling on just one thing for the rest of your life sounds like torture?
Do you feel stifled by the “norm” — one life — one career — one path?
Do you get frustrated with the lack of time to do everything you love?
Do you have a hard time figuring out what to do next because it all just looks so interesting?
Do you wish there was a way to do all the awesome stuff in your head but can’t seem to just get it together?
Yep. You’re a Creative Explorer.
Some people call us “Renaissance Souls” or “Scanners” or “DaVincis,” but I like to call us Creative Explorers.
We can’t stick to just one thing. It’s impossible. It makes us crabby, leaves us unfulfilled and just plain bored.
Our brains move a little faster, we grasp concepts quickly, we’re ready to move on when others would stick to it.
We have different definitions of “done” and that’s perfectly fine.
It is possible to live as a creative explorer. You just need the right tools.
You know by now our world’s geared towards single-focused lives. Schools teach us to give the right answers and pass on to the next level and please the ones in charge. They don’t know what to do with us.
And so we’re left without the tools and resources we need to be good explorers, and unfortunately a lot of us had the creative and the explorer beat out of us from years of school.
So that’s why The Alternating Current exists. It’s for you, the Creative Explorer, to learn how to live with your uniqueness, how to do all the stuff you want, and live life on your own terms.
Here you’ll find tools and systems and things to help you explore and get your creative genius out into the world. That’s my terminology for getting stuff done.
I’m not going to force you into a GTD-like one-size-fits-all system. What I will do is expose you to different, whole-brained ways of getting your stuff done. I’ll give you tools that help me. I’ll create stuff for you to use in whatever way you see fit.
Because as Creative Explorers, we have to figure out on our own how we work best. I can’t tell you how to do your things, but I can give you support and tools so you can explore the best ways for you.

Yay, Alexia! This is wonderful! I call myself a scanner because I learned about it from Barbara Sher, but it sure is the same thing. There are a lot more of us out here than people think! I’m hoping to offer help and support for people like us too, so let’s support each other!
Alexia, this is soooo me! People don’t understand so I explain it this way: I’m a creator, not a maintainer. I would love to plant a garden, but I would never pull weeds or water it until next year when it was time to dig it all up and plant again – on a fresh “canvas.”
yep. Creatives are often crap at maintaining. But it’s a learned behavior, and maintaining the things you love yield far more benefits than starting over and over and over.
